Con una trayectoria que luego se proyectó al ámbito internacional, cubrió su primer gran evento en la Copa Mundial de 1986, realizada en México, Hugo Marino Romero, de origen peruano, comenzó su camino en el periodismo futbolístico cubriendo los mundiales de Italia 1990, USA 1994, Francia 1998 y Japón 2002, además de cinco Copas América y diversos torneos y partidos amistosos en Estados Unidos.

Tras colaborar con El Nuevo Herald, prestó servicios en la Office of Cuba – U.S. International Broadcasting Radio Martí. Durante su estadía en la capital de EE.UU., también estuvo a cargo de la sección de fútbol del periódico El Latino y posteriormente de El Pregonero. Más adelante, en Nueva York, asumió la dirección de la revista Fútbol en el Mundo, consolidando aún más su trayectoria en los medios.

Poco después fundó su propio medio: Don Deporte Sports Magazine.

Para Hugo Marino Romero no existían los imposibles. La palabra “desafío” era un imán para su audacia. Hoy, en honor a su legado y a nuestra pasión inquebrantable por el fútbol, lanzamos Fútbol en América - The Magazine, un tributo a su historia y a todo lo que nos inspiró.

With a career that later expanded onto the international stage, Hugo Marino Romero, originally from Peru, covered his first major event at the 1986 World Cup held in Mexico. He began his path in soccer journalism by covering the World Cups of Italy 1990, USA 1994, France 1998, and Japan 2002, as well as five Copa América tournaments and various competitions and friendly matches in the United States.

After collaborating with El Nuevo Herald, he worked for the Office of Cuba – U.S. International Broadcasting Radio Martí. During his time in the U.S. capital, he also oversaw the soccer section of the newspaper El Latino and later of El Pregonero. Later on, in New York, he took on the role of director of the magazine Fútbol en el Mundo, further solidifying his career in the media.

Soon after, he founded his own outlet: Don Deporte Sports Magazine.

For Hugo Marino Romero, nothing was impossible. The word “challenge” was a magnet for his boldness. Today, in honor of his legacy and our unbreakable passion for football, we launch Fútbol en América – The Magazine, a tribute to his story and to everything that inspired us.
